Last night was our final meeting before the Christmas party, we collected more fabulous donations for the Christmas raffle, the prizes are top notch and well worth buying an extra strip of raffle tickets to increase your chances of winning and at £2 per 5 tickets it's an absolute bargain! Other preparations for the Christmas party were put into action, for the members attending our Christmas party our memories were jogged to bring a secret Santa gift to the party to choose an item of party food to bring for the buffet. Suggested foods ranged from the traditional sausages on sticks, cheese and pineapple and sandwiches to the marginally more exotic fare of olives, felafel, Panettone and Stollen. Yum! Rowena delivered her President's update she revealed our new notice board, and the committee's plans for a questionnaire for members to give their opinion on what the Bombshells have offered members so far and how we can improve.
Then it was on to part two of our wreath making craft evening. We had already made the bases of our wreaths by wiring moss to a ring and backing this ring with plastic to stop the wreath drying out when hung on the front door (who knew?!) so tonight we were all ready for completion... some of us more ready than others!
I have subsequently found out that I'm really good at making the base of a wreath, but possibly not so good at decorating it. However, everyone around me seemed to be creating beautiful festive front door centre pieces using foliage cut from our gardens such as spruce, conifer, ivy and other evergreen plants. Once the greenery had been pinned to the wreath, the decorations were then added, there were some gorgeous, imaginative additions, such as dried fruits, christmas baubles, ribbons and even some battery operated fairy lights.
There was a fair amount of christmas cheer in the room as we chatted and compared our creations, tucked into mince pies and the odd glass of wine (n.b. the wine made my wreath look a bit better). Anyway check out the gallery of pictures below to see the wreath making in action and one or two of the finished wreaths I managed to photograph.
