So apart from reading them and sitting on your shelves getting dusty, there is another thing that you can do with your books, and at this month's meeting we found out what exactly that was when we learnt the art of book folding and making book roses.
Our very own Secretary Jo hosted the meeting, and the remarkable thing is that she taught herself how to do book folding from the internet. She confidently told us how simple it was and she wasn't lying... although practise obviously makes perfect as her book folding creations were amazing as you can see from the pictures below:
So Jo explained that book folding is actually based on a really simple principle and if you can hold a pencil and make a few measurements there is nothing stopping you from producing some pretty impressive works of art with all those books doing nothing! Not only do they look great in your home, they are also a really impressive home made gift anyone would be delighted to receive.
We also learned how to create book roses from pages of an old book, these could be used to decorate a book folded into a vase (see above) or can be used individually to decorate gift you are wrapping. They also look fantastic grouped together to make a wreath and can be made from any reasonably stout paper, like gift wrap or magazine pages, for an alternative Christmas decoration perhaps.
Pictures of some of our creations, and work in progress appear below.
We were extremely pleased to welcome nine visiting ladies to our meeting, they'd come along to see what us Bombshells get up to and they seemed to really enjoy the craft meeting.
We welcome anyone who would like to to come along like these ladies did, to try a couple of meetings for free and then hopefully to join us and become a fully fledged Bombshell! Our August meeting is Quiz Night, which is always a lot of fun, especially as we bring wine and nibbles to keep us going through those tricky questions!
So if you'd like to have a go one evening, we'd love to see you... please contact us on the email below to let us know you're coming, or just rock up and let us know you're visiting.
