Here at Bombshells HQ we do enjoy a bit of fun, however, serious matters are always afoot at our February meeting. Every year we have to hold an Annual Meeting for our members so that everything we have done in the past year is made completely transparent for everyone to see.

One of the most important bits of information that we have to tell our members is exactly what monies we have raised over the last year and how, and just how they have been spent or intend on being spent. Every member was sent various bits of information to read before the meeting and so the serious bits were wrapped up quite quickly.

The best news was that our membership is steadily growing and that our fundraising efforts have been incredibly successful. Committee driven fundraising events such as the afternoon tea, cocktail night and Burn's Night have been real money spinners and our appearances at the BBH Summer Fête and Christmas Bazaar have also been very fruitful. All this means that we have a healthy bank balance and will be able to to continue to be able to afford to invite interesting speakers to talk at our meetings, buy craft supplies or (as was discussed on the night) the possibility of the committee planning an exciting treat for us all.

With regard to the Elections no one new came forward to stand, so the current officers and committee agreed to stand for another year and were unanimously elected. So thanks go to them for their continued hard work and commitment to our WI.

Our President Sandra will be continuing in the role for another year but she made it clear that this would be her last. With this in mind, we really have to think about the future of our WI, because without a president we cannot continue. If you think that you would like to give it a go, now is the time to join the committee and start learning from the masters!

So back to the meeting! After we'd safely elected our existing officers and committee members back for another year, it was time for some fun. We all got into teams of 6 and got ready to flex our brain cells back to a time when we were children, our kids were younger or for those of us with grandchildren, to the last time we babysat the little ones; because children's literature was the subject of our quiz. Penned by committee member Sara's husband we had questions on Little Women, Winnie The Pooh, The Hungry Caterpillar, Willie Wonka and all the way up to more recent writings such as The Horrible Histories and The Boy, the Mole, the Horse and the Fox.

Do you know who the current Children's Laureate is? Who wrote The Secret Garden? Or which novel Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third appeared in? Answers on a post card please... not really, just scroll down to the bottom of the blog to find out.

After the quiz we had a book swap and then there was plenty of time to catch up with everyone, which is always a bonus.

Here some pictures from the evening including February's collection for Horsham Matters food bank. Please click on the first image and they will show as a gallery of images.
