Did you know that helpful husbands of WI members are called a 'WISH'? This stands for WI supportive husband! Luckily our Treasurer Joan has a very helpful husband indeed, who has designed this fabulous new logo for us and we love it! Thanks so much Stephen you are a genius.
As well as a swanky new logo, we also have other changes afoot. February's meeting was our Annual meeting and election night. Usually elections have tended to be very quick and fuss free and whilst there have been a few personnel changes among the committee over the years, one member has stayed the course since day one - that person is our founding President Rowena. But after four fabulous years uncontested in the top spot, and with work and family commitments increasing she felt it was time to step down and make way for a new President.
Rowena was responsible for setting up our little WI back in 2018 and has skilfully steered the ship through the choppy waters of our uncertain early days and the scary, uncharted waters of Covid19. She has been instrumental in bringing us a host of amazing meetings and experiences from day one. Under Rowena’s presidency our WI has grown into wonderful, supportive, educational, fun and slightly different WI. She has worked tirelessly to keep us all together embracing the quirky, fascinating and frankly sometimes downright boozy during our monthly meetings. These have featured witchcraft, burlesque, Tai Chi, belly dancing, facial yoga, meditation, menopause advice, Chinese medicine, gin, rum and wine tasting, cocktails and much more. As well as being a founder of the Bombshells, Rowena will go down in village history for introducing BBH to her signature ‘rocket fuel’ mulled wine, which has become infamous at the Christmas bazaar. Thank you Rowena for all your hard work and dedication.
Fortunately one candidate stepped up to take over the role and she was unanimously voted in. Our new president is Sandra and whilst she has big shoes to fill, we are all sure she is ready, willing and able. Welcome, Sandra, we are looking forward to the next chapter with you at the helm!
After the business side of things was over we all got into teams for a quiz. There were three sections one on the year 2023 so a few questions about our new King's up coming coronation, Eurovision, World Book Day and sporting events. Section two was on 1970's music which brought back lots of memories for those of us old enough to remember dancing to Night Fever and listening to the The Police on our new personal Sony Walkmans! The last round on film saw us guessing who directed and starred in Easy Rider (Dennis Hopper) and who sang the Bond theme tune to The Man With The Golden Gun (Lulu). The winning team (but only by one point) were appropriately named 'Bombed Out'.
Our next meeting is All About Beauty. Our local beauty expert Claire, who runs her own salon in BBH returns for more beauty tips and tricks to make us look wonderful and ten years younger hopefully! Join us on Tuesday 28th March at 8pm and see how it's done!
