Our last meeting was in celebration of the UK not coming last in the Eurovision Song Contest (for a change) and of course we wouldn't miss the opportunity to celebrate Ukraine's success in winning it! We sincerely hope that they have equal success in defending their country.
We met for a really fun social evening, listening to a compilation of all those Eurovision entries over the decades we love to hate and hate to love! And whilst we listened we also snacked… the only rules being that everything that passed our lips was from one of the Eurovision entry countries. We all bought along something to eat or drink, there was Italian wine, German Battenburg cake, Polish Walnut liqueur, a wonderful spread from Greece including Baklava, Tzatziki, Taramasalata and Houmous, Belgian chocolate cookies, Stroopwafles from The Netherlands and much more to sample.
We also voted unanimously for our resolution:
Women and Girls with ASD & ADHD - under-identified, under-diagnosed, misdiagnosed, under-supported
Women and girls presenting with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are going undiagnosed. The NFWI calls on the government and funding bodies to fund research into the female presentation of ASD and ADHD, and for action to be taken to improve the diagnosis process for women and girls, to ensure that they are equipped to better manage these conditions and do not suffer in silence. The NFWI further calls on WI members to raise awareness within their WIs of the issues facing women and girls with ASD and ADHD.
