Halloween Pumpkin Carving

If you have been a Bombshell from the beginning like me, you will no doubt have just finished carving your third pumpkin for our annual pumpkin carving competition, and (for a little while anyway) your last as we plan to do something a bit different next year. As luck would have it our meeting actually fell on Halloween evening so a few of us decided to dress up and join the trick or treaters on the way to the meeting.

Once in the hall and safe from the local witches, ghosts and monsters we got down to carving, and indulging in delicious homemade pumpkin pie baked by our talented treasure Joan.

We had lots of entries to the pumpkin carving competition, although some just came along for a drink, to catch up and soak up the spooky atmosphere.

Above you can see us all working hard and below are our fabulous creations all lit up.

Our winner this year was Sara, she is pictured with her winning pumpkin and her prize of pink Prosecco! And you can see her creation all lit up in the photo above in the middle.

October's meeting saw us debuting our fab new Bombshells T-shirt. There will be no mistaking us now we have these little beauties to wear at the fete and Christmas bazaar and frankly anywhere we wish to wear them!

If you would like to get one for yourself please get in touch with Joan, we will need to get around 10 firm orders before we can get another run printed, but I'm sure we can manage that with our ever growing membership. The shirts come in ladies sizes 8-16 and unisex sizes 38/42/44/48/52/56 inches and cost £14 each.

Our next meeting on November 28th is going to be getting us in the mood for Christmas with a speaker to entertain us with a talk:

What the Victorians did for us at Christmas

You may be surprised to know how many elements of our Christmas celebrations are attributed to the Victorians.

“Innovative, Informative and Entertaining”

Did you know that Father Christmas was around before the Saxons, but was reinvented by the Victorians ?

Stories with Songs and Style.

Katharine brings the “wow” factor to this talk with her Victorian costume. Perfect for her singing of “Santa Baby” and “Silent Night”.

Don't forget if you are not a member your first meeting is free and we'd love to see you there.
