It is starting to feel like a Bombshells tradition to hold a pumpkin carving competition for our October meeting. I think this is our third one, and each year is better attended than the last, with more pumpkins and talent than you can shake a broomstick at!
This time round we also had a couple of seasonal treats to make us feel even more Autumnal and get us in the mood for some competitive carving. There was a delicious pumpkin pie to share baked by our talented treasurer Joan and a fantastic gin based fruity punch made by Fiona. Both went down very well indeed and our thanks are extended to Joan and Fiona who donated all the ingredients.
There's not much left for me to say than we spent a fun evening chatting and creating our masterpieces, when they were finished the lights were extinguished for a haunting display, and then voting commenced to see who would win the coveted prize of a bottle of Prosecco.
And now for the reveal...
Our lucky winner was the very talented Miranda with a spooky tree in the moonlight design as you can see below. Congratulations Miranda you won by a landslide 9 votes, with Fiona and Anne coming second and third with 4 and 3 votes.
Wonder what they'd have though of a group of women carving pumpkins in Broadbridge Heath back in the dark ages... I'm guessing, if discovered, we'd have probably been tried as witches in the local Ducky!
