We Are Back! Ice Breaker Bingo!

Cheers! It is sooooo nice to have something to celebrate! We had our first face to face meeting this month, our last one was the wonderful Gin Tasting meeting courtesy of The Gin Kitchen in February 2019, it's been a long time. The second thing to celebrate was Fiona's appointment to Vice Presidency. After 3 years on the committee as PR secretary Rowena finally persuaded Fiona to take up this officer role which involves supporting the President and stepping into her very capable shoes if and when necessary. As Rowena was away on holiday at the end of July it meant that she wasn't able to attend our first face to face meeting, which was disappointing for her, but gave Fiona her first opportunity to perform her new duties... and the Bombshells kindly gave her the thumbs up!

So onto the meeting... July was meant to be 'Colour Me Beautiful' but Due to Covid restrictions it was decided to postpone until we could enjoy the complete pre-covid experience, Kathy will be re booked as soon as this is possible... So what to do instead?

It has been sad not to meet up for our monthly meetings face to face, but we have held a meeting every month via Zoom and have continued our coffee mornings, either via Zoom, in Rowena's garden or outside at Sumners Ponds when the restrictions were relaxed. We have also carried on with Book Club and have been for a wonderful group night out for cocktail night (see above) at Kaya in Horsham Park. And despite lockdown we have managed by the power of social media and word of mouth to add four new Bombshells to our number! First Jenny and Josie joined, and most recently Pam and Sarah. We also had two new ladies joining us to have their free first 'taster meeting' so we decided an activity to encourage everyone to get to know each other was a good option.

Thinking back to when the Bombshells were a virgin WI group, one of our members, Lynda organised an 'ice breaker' activity for us and it was such good fun that it was decided another similar activity would be perfect. Thanks to our lively WhatsApp group, we were able to obtain some amusing and interesting facts from most of the members who would be attending the meeting, and devised an 'Ice Breaker Bingo' game. Despite having to wear masks (it's difficult to drink wine wearing a mask!) and maintain social distance this proved to be a very enjoyable evening and we all found out lots of new things about each other which sparked plenty of interesting conversations and hilarity.

The object of the game was to see how many Bombshells everyone could match to the facts on the bingo cards - there were a couple of red herrings in that two of our members weren't able to attend, but this lent an interesting twist to the proceedings in that they had to be guessed. When the first card was filled there was another one to move onto and anyone who completed a whole card correctly was put into a hat and the winner received a small token of our admiration (a box of Heroes!) So if you weren't able to attend the meeting, see how many you can guess. The answers will be on a separate blog so there's no cheating by scrolling down!!

It was so very good to see everyone and meet our new members face to face, and to be able to find out things that only usually come out after years of friendship. I for one feel I know everyone just that little bit better for this meeting and there are still some facts that I need to go into much further... like just what were those embarrassing moments with Tampax; who missed out on being Mrs Liam Gallagher; can the A level psychology graduate psychoanalyse me over coffee; and just how do you walk across the River Thames if your name isn't Jesus!?

So if you would like to come along to one of our meetings, join our friendly group and find out who goes with what facts, just email our President Rowena on bbhwi1951@gmail.com .
